CM Maryam meets UN delegation, vows to boost cooperation in various sectors

Punjab CM vows to resolve public crisis on priority

LAHORE (Dunya News) -  Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the United Nations delegation held a meeting and agreed to strengthen cooperation in various sectors.

UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan Muhammad Yahya along with a 22-member delegation met with Punjab CM. The delegation included local presidents of UN bodies.

It was agreed to boost cooperation in various sectors including education health, and agriculture in the meeting. Both sides also exchanged views on running developmental projects with the support of UN bodies.

Punjab CM informed the delegation about education, health sector reforms, and government policies. She boosted the Punjab stating Punjab’s agriculture sector has full potential to transform Pakistan’s economy.

She reiterated that development and reforms in every sector were her priority. She said her government was dedicated to resolving public crisis on a priority basis.

To build 0.1 million homes 

Punjab CM shared her government agenda and running welfare projects. The public will be facilitated with reforms very soon. For the very first time, the officer's grading system is being devised for service delivery and good governance.

The agenda to build 0.1 million homes with the cooperation of UN bodies will soon be accomplished. CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted that becoming a chief minister despite obstacles was an honor for her.

She said she had a vision to empower the underprivileged financially and wanted every woman financially stable and empowered.

She asserted that her government mission was to serve the public. She disclosed plans that a tax-free garments city was being built which would provide free training and scholarships for six months to women.

The Punjab government is devising a waste management plan for every city across Punjab. She said that Nawaz Sharif IT City will become Pakistan’s Silicon Valley.

Maryam Nawaz stated that her government was devising an effective system to provide complete health facilities in every district of Punjab. She also shared that the first air ambulance service in Pakistan was being initiated by Punjab.

She highlighted the health projects saying, that 2500 basic health units, 300 rural health centers, and big hospitals were being re-vamped.

The first public-sector cancer hospital is being built in Lahore. Free medicines were being provided to citizens with contagious diseases for two months on their doorstep.

Provision of interest-free loans and machinery to small farmers

She highlighted that free meals were being provided in schools for children's nutrition. The government will assist farms in rural areas for the growth of livestock.  Interest-free loans and machinery will be provided to small farmers.

The first virtual police station has been established. Punjab CM said not only Lahore but every city of Punjab’s development was her priority.

UN team President Muhammad Yahya said he was interested in visiting Lahore, Punjab’s people were impressive. He vowed to fully support the Punjab government in public service.

UNDP Representative Samuel said Pakistan especially Punjab’s welfare projects were commendable.
