WASHUK (Dunya News) – At least 28 people, including women and children, have died and 20 others have been injured after a passenger bus plunged into a gorge in Washuk area of Balochistan on Wednesday.
According to officials, the passenger bus en route to Quetta from Turbat veered off the road and plunged into the gorge in Washuk district due to speeding.
Rescuers have shifted the injured to the Basima Civil Hospital for medical assistance, from where they will be transferred to a hospital in Quetta for further treatment.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at a morgue in Basima Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities and identification.
More casualties are feared as some of the injured were stated to be in critical condition by the doctors.
PM SADDENDED BY ACCIDENT
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the deaths in the accident.
In a statement released from the PM’s Office, Shehbaz prayed for the victims and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. "We stand with the mourning families in this difficult time."
The PM also issued instructions for the provision of all necessary medical assistance to the injured to ensure their recovery.
