LAHORE (Dunya News) - Lahore High Court Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan has urged the stakeholders to respect the judiciary.
Addressing a ceremony at the Punjab Judicial Academy, the chief justice said, "we respect everyone and therefore we should also get the reciprocal gesture."
“We don’t want fight with any institution including the bar and government. We have respect for everyone,” he said. He advised the judges not to feel pressure while hearing a case.
Addressing the ceremony, the chief justice said there were 1.4 million pending cases in courts and "we are also facing shortage of judges". “I am grateful to those lawyers who helped us in eliminating the culture of strikes in courts,” he said.

According to the chief justice, everyone will have to play their role for an independent judiciary.
“This judicial system wasn’t formed for powerful people but it was meant for the downtrodden,” said the chief justice.
