LAHORE (Dunya News) – Irked by the sluggishness of the litigation process, Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, appealed to the chief justice of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday to send them [Khan’s sisters] to jail if they had been found guilty of violence and arson.
Interacting with a group of reporters outside an anti-terrorism court here, Aleema Khan complained that the process was sluggish, adding that they attended several hearings in the past many months without any outcome yet.
Aleema Khan urged the LHC chief justice to stop what she referred to as 'drama', adding, “If the charges against us are not proven, we should be allowed to leave and not hassled over and over again by these hearings.”
She said that they would now sit outside jails [if the case is not finalised], adding that police should act as their protectors and not as oppressors.
Aleema also called for the release of innocent PTI workers from jails, claiming that they were being tortured there.
Former federal minister Asad Umar noted that the government was not talking about negotiations with the PTI. He said that the country could not move forward unless there was a dialogue.
Umar affirmed that it was a long-standing position that the matter should end with negotiations.
