KARACHI (Dunya News/Web Desk) – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Wednesday clarified that the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation had a strong system for check and balance of currency notes.
In a statement, the SBP said the number of the misprinted notes delivered to a bank branch in Karachi’s Model Town area was just 10 when compared with the currency bills printed and circulated notes across the country.
There was always a chance of misprinting notes being a massive productions, the SBP said in a statement which came after a video of misprinted Rs1,000 notes went viral on media.
It was a National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) branch which received these notes in their cash bundles from the SBP.
According to the branch manager, the currency bills in question were new having one side printed and the other blank. The incident came to light when a consumer returned some of these notes to the bank, which later found others too.
About the long-term measures to deal with a similar situation in future, the SBP said they were improving the internal control system and added that the citizens could replace any misprinted notes at the SBP counters around the country.
