WhatsApp lowers age limit for usage in the UK and EU

Now, WhatsApp is accessible to users aged 13 and above

(Web Desk) - WhatsApp, the popular messaging application, has lowered the age limit for its usage in the United Kingdom and European Union countries.

Earlier, users in these regions had to be at least 16 years old to use WhatsApp, while in the United States, the minimum age requirement was 13.

In a statement released by WhatsApp, the company announced that it is updating its rules and regulations, including changes to its privacy policy. As a result, the minimum age for using WhatsApp in the UK will now be reduced from 16 to 13 years.

WhatsApp emphasized that despite these changes, there will be no alterations to the services provided. Users' private images and calls will continue to be end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that messages sent or received cannot be read or listened to by WhatsApp itself.

This adjustment in age restrictions is seen as a move by WhatsApp to align its policies across different regions and enhance user privacy. The company is taking steps to keep its platform secure while making it accessible to a broader range of users.
