IHC suspends success notifications of Tariq Fazal, Khurram Nawaz, Anjum Aqeel from Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday suspended success notifications of winning candidates from Islamabad's constituencies NA-46, 47 and 48.

The candidates, whose success notification was suspended by the two-member IHC bench comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, include Anjum Aqeel Khan, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had issued notification of victory of these candidates from NA-46, 47 and 48. PML-N's Anjum Aqeel Khan was declared victorious from NA-46 (Islamabad), Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry of PML-N from NA-47 (Islamabad) and Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz (independent) had won election form NA-48 (Islamabad).

The PTI-backed Independents including Ali Bukhari and Shoaib Shaheen had challenged the result of returned candidates from NA-46, 47 and 48.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday ordered the returning officer (RO) of NA-128 to submit complete record.

Shah Muhammad Jatoi, a member representing ECP Balochistan chapter, and Ikramullah, a member from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, presided over the hearing on alleged electoral irregularities in the NA-128 constituency.

During the proceedings, Salman Akram Raja, the independent candidate backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), appeared before the ECP.
