Mark Ruffalo on Gaza war: Give peace a chance

76th annual DGA Awards

(Web Desk) - During the 76th Annual DGA Awards, ‘Avengers’ actor Mark Ruffalo called for ceasefire between Israel and Palestine, stressing that bombing is not the way to peace.

The actor donned lapel buttons signifying “peace lilies” and “Artists for Ceasefire,” an organisation that advocates for a lasting truce in Gaza.

Ruffalo underlined the Israel-Hamas conflict’s toll, bringing attention towards the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

“We have a million refugees on the border of Rafah right now, who are looking at another bombing surge, and we have 400,000 people starving to death right now, without any humanitarian aid being able to get in there.

So we’re asking the leaders of the world, especially President Biden, to demand a ceasefire, a lasting ceasefire,” Ruffalo said, underlining the need of prioritising diplomacy over prolonged bloodshed.

It is pertinent to mention that the death toll in Gaza has surpassed 28,000, with Israel now conducting airstrikes in Rafah as well, which was previously labelled as a safe zone.
