LAHORE (Web Desk) - The 113th birth anniversary of legendary poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz is being observed today (Tuesday).
He was born on February 13, 1911 at Kala Qader in Narowal district of Punjab.
Faiz was a notable member of the Progressive Writers’ Movement and an avowed Marxist.
His major literary works include, 'Naqsh-e-Faryadi', 'Dast-e-Saba', 'Zindan-Nama', 'Dast-e-Tah-e-Sung', 'Mere Dil Mere Musafir', 'Sar-e-Wadi-e-Sina' which have been combined as one book 'Nuskha Haa-e-Wafa'.
Faiz was awarded Pakistan’s highest civil award Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 1990 in recognition of his services in literature.

The revolutionary poet also received many awards including Nigar award, Lenin Peace Prize, Peace Prize of Pakistan's Human Rights Commission and Avicenna Prize.
He passed away in Lahore on November 20, 1984.
