KHUSHAB/PAKPATTAN (Dunya News/Web Desk) – Police managed to solve two murder cases in Khushab and Pakpattan where the killers were among the mourners to divert the focus of investigation, again showing how hollow the myth of strong family system in Pakistan society is.
One of these murders took place in Khushab where the husband, Muhammad Shehzad, called 15 to say that his wife Rabia had committed suicide.
The gruesome murder took place at Anga, a village located in Naushera tehsil – a town in the Soan Valley located 55 kilometres from Khushab, the dsitrict headquarters – over the family honour, as the accused was angry over the victim giving birth to a daughter.
It was Khushab DPO Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem who had ordered to investigate the murder, which resulted in the breakthrough, as Shehzad admitted during the probe that he had killed his wife.
A similar incident happened in Chak 59-D of Pakpattan where the father with the assistance of his elder son had killed the younger one and buried the body in the home while claiming that he had been kidnapped. Some days later, they threw the body in the nearby fields and accused the local rivals of committing the crime.
However, the police were able to solve the case after a thorough probe as they found out that it was Wazir Ahmed who killed his own son Muhammad Saleem over the repeated differences and altercations.
The police have now arrested the accused after registering a case with Muhammad Mateen – the third son – being the complainant.
It must be remembered that it is always the immediate family members who practice the barbaric customs like honour killings and domestic violence as well as forced marriages, which involve not only physical but also mental torture, producing long-term psychological damage for the victims who mostly remain silent to avoid being stigmatised.
