LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated on Sunday that Lahore belongs to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and not to any businessman or sportsperson.
Addressing a workers convention in Lahore, Bilawal expressed his happiness at returning to the city to contest elections.
He said that when questioned about his presence in Lahore, he would respond by highlighting his genuine connection with the city, in contrast to those imposed by the dictator, General Ziaul Haq.
It is important to mention that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had laid the foundation of the PPP in the city of Lahore.
Continuing his criticism of the PML-N, Bilawal emphasised, “We do not need any revenue officials (patwaris); our focus is on public service.”
He pledged to persist in his struggle for the betterment of the people of Pakistan, accentuating that his fight was against prevailing issues such as inflation, unemployment and poverty.
The former foreign minister reiterated his plans to end the politics of hatred, focus on improving health facilities in Punjab, construct houses for low-salaried individuals, provide free electricity up to 300 units and double wages.
Bilawal also announced that upon coming into power, he would distribute cards among labourers and farmers, increase the stipend granted under the Benazir Income Support Programme and work towards eradicating poverty and hunger during challenging economic conditions.
The PPP leader asserted that the PPP should be the sole choice for the electorate on Feb 8.
