LAHORE (Dunya News) – Events related to Iqbal Day commenced at the Punjab Group of Colleges on Saturday.
A special ceremony was held on Hali Road campus.
Businessman and Naazria-e-Pakistan Trust Board of Governors member Mian Salman Farooq, Secretary General Naheed Gul and Lawyer Rai Saad were guests of honour at the ceremony. Student Affairs Director Halima Sadia was also present.
Addressing the ceremony, Salman Farooq said Iqbal's message was universal and his poetry was in accordance with the teachings of Islam. Iqbal rejected western democracy, he said.
He was of the opinion that “if a common man doesn't receive anything under a particular system of government, the system is redundant to the core.”
He said Iqbal had presented the concept of a separate homeland after seeing the plight of Muslims in the subcontinent. He advised students to hone skills in advanced technology in order to excel in their lives.
