RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, the military's media wing stated on Wednesday.
The purpose of the army chief's visit is to enhance military-to-military cooperation and defence collaboration between the two brotherly countries, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement released here.
During his visit, COAS Gen Munir met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
He also had meetings with the Azerbaijani defense minister, the 1st deputy minister and the chief of general staff as well as the commander of the air force.
During these meetings, COAS Gen Munir emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation in defence and training.
He expressed his appreciation for the high morale and remarkable standard of operational readiness of the Azerbaijani armed forces.
The Azerbaijani political and military leadership acknowledged Pakistan's continued support and pledged to elevate mutual cooperation between the two countries and their armed forces to a new level.
While visiting the General Staff Headquarters, COAS Munir received a warm welcome and was presented with a guard of honor. He also laid a floral wreath at the Alley of Martyrs in Baku.
