ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The former chairman of Pemra Absar Alam stated that he faced significant pressure during the 2017 sit-in from the then DG ISI Faiz Hameed.
In his reply to the Faizabad sit-in review case being heard in Supreme Court, Absar Alam said, Pemra initially shut a private news channel for violating the law, and subsequently, Faiz Hameed instructed to close other channels as well.
Furthermore, Faiz urged him to impose a ban on Hussain Haqqani as well.
The former Pemra chairman also mentioned that in April 2017, he wrote a letter to then prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, and the army chief, informing them about the pressure he was experiencing.
