ANF arrests two suspects with drugs

Operations were carried out in Lahore and Sargodha

RAWALPINDI (APP) - A team of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 109 kilogramme drugs and arrested two suspects in Lahore and Sargodha, says the spokesperson. 

The ANF recovered 48kg hashish from a car in an operation conducted near Salam Motorway Interchange, Sargodha. 

A suspect was signalled to stop the car near Kala Shah Kaku motorway toll plaza, but he managed to flee. The ANF team chased the suspect and caught him near Salam Interchange. A barrier was installed near the interchange, Sargodha to arrest another member of the gang.

When the drug smuggler saw the ANF barrier, he tried to go back towards the motorway. When chased, he threw the packets of drugs from the vehicle on the roadside green area. As many as 30kg hash and six kg opium were recovered from the packets.

The suspect was arrested by the ANF officials. He confessed to working for a drug trafficking group and also confessed to smuggling drugs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab in the past.

Cases have been registered against the suspect under the Anti-Narcotics Act and further investigation is under way.
