ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The interim government has finally given approval to the hike in gas prices.
As per the Petroleum Division, the hike in the gas prices was proposed by the OGRA and the rise would be implemented from Nov 1.
The statement said around 57 percent of the consumers would be dealt as the protected category of the consumers for which the prices were not increased and they would pay Rs400 as the fixed prices of the gas.
However, the consumers using above 0.25 to 1.5 hectare cubic meters would be paying Rs1,000 per month and the consumers of two to four HC and above would be paying a fixed charge of Rs2,000 per month.
A Petroleum Division spokesperson said had the government not hiked the gas prices the gas sector circular debts would have shot up to Rs400 billion.
