Free, fair, transparent elections caretaker govt’s top priority: Solangi
(Web Desk) - Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has said the caretaker government is trying to keep the political environment pacified to ensure that general elections are held in a free, fair and transparent manner, Radio Pakistan has reported.
Speaking during a PTV programme on Friday, the minister said, “We believe in working with all political parties and our only interest is that the results of elections are acceptable to all of them.”
About the PTI chief's recent statements, Solangi said Pakistan was a democratic country where everyone had the right to express their views.
To a question about terrorism, the minister said there was no slowdown in anti-terrorism operations, adding that security forces were vigilantly implementing the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism.
He said that indiscriminate action was being taken against anti-sate activities, and maintained that no individual or group, either secular or religious or whatsoever their ideology might be, would be allowed to challenge the writ of the state.
The minister said the power to use force rested only with the state and no state, at no cost could outsource this power to be used by anyone else.
He said a surge had been seen in terrorist incidents recently but there were also a significant number of cases where our security forces had successfully prevented terrorist attacks.
Responding to a question about the challenges for the caretaker government, Solangi said economy was the biggest challenge and the government was trying its best within its powers to stabilise the economy and provide relief to the people, concluded the RP report.
