LHC orders Rs2,000 fine for helmet violators

(Dunya News) – Issuing a written order, the Lahore High Court (LHC) directed the police to slap a fine of Rs 2,000 on the motorcyclists without helmets.
The LHC Justice, Shahid Kareem issued the order on the petitions filed by Haroon Farooq and others.
The court directed the Dolphin Police to monitor the order regarding imposition of fine of Rs 2,000 for those not wearing the helmets and Rs 5,000 for the people who would wash their vehicles at homes. The court also ordered imposition of Rs 5,000 as fine on those detected parking vehicles in green belts.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) officials have been asked that no development project would be initiated in the city without prior permission of the court. The LDA officials would also seek guidance from the environment department for development projects.
The court also directed the officials to preserve old trees and go for more Miyawaki forests in the city.
The judge has also directed the officials concerned to move against the brick-kilns emitting black smoke and action should also be taken against the officials who would not move against such kilns.
