On Sunday last, women’s match organized at the Charbagh Sports Complex had been cancelled due to a row. However, it was the deputy commissioner Swat, Dr Qasim Ali who took an initiative and made arrangements for the first-ever match.

Women cricketers from Kabal and Mingora tehsils participated in the match, which was played in the ground of

The Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kabal was the first venue where teams of Kabal and Mingora tehsils played the ten over match and Mingora outclassed the rival by seven runs.

Talking to media the players shared their joy citing that before the match we were under the impression that our notables were not ready to accept women as human beings. They strictly stopped us from taking part in the sports. However, now we are happy that district administration provided the female an opportunity to exhibit their cricket skills in presence of a huge crowd.

Players pinned hope on the district administration saying it would continue to organize such events in the future as women of Swat are very talented. They said the administration must take substantial measures to enhance chances for the women of Swat and outskirts.
