LAHORE (Web Desk) - Fast bowler Haris Rauf revealed that he had been selling snacks to pay his school fee as his family lacked financial resources.

A leading cricket portal produced a documentary on Pakistani star bowler Haris Rauf featuring his old house in Rawalpindi and the streets where he had been playing cricket.

He talked about his early life in this documentary. The star player said that he is the eldest of 7 siblings and his father was a welder who hardly met the financial needs of the family. After the marriage of my uncles, he said his family had to vacate all rooms for them and we had to sleep in the kitchen.

“I used to sell snacks in the Sunday market to pay my school fees. Later on, when I had joined the university, I needed Rs 70,000 to Rs 80,000 every 6 months. For this amount, I used to play tape-ball cricket and earned a good money ranging from Rs 200,000 to Rs 250,000 monthly.

With the help of this amount I would pay the fee and also gave to my mother. My mother had a dream to have her own house.”

Haris Rauf said now he had a house and a car and my father started weeping when I purchased the car. My father said that he did not even have the status to sit in the car. I am also happy if my family is happy and it is a matter of great pride for me, the right-arm seamer said.
