ICC's 'Pakistan Diaries' transport fans to see World Cup trophy in Lahore

The ICC World Cup trophy was displayed at Badshahi Mosque and Minar-e-Pakistan

LAHORE (Web Desk) - The International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2023 trophy visited many historical places of Lahore during its three-day tour to Pakistan. 

The trophy was also displayed for viewing of cricket fans as well. 

The ICC on its official X, formerly Twitter, posted a video titled "Pakistan Diaries" in which the coveted trophy was seen visiting historical places in Lahore. 

The trophy was unveiled by former Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz. Riaz is now adviser to chief minister Punjab for sports. 

The ICC World Cup trophy was displayed at Badshahi Mosque, Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore Museum and other historical places in front of fans.

Trophy's journey 

The trophy started its journey from the host India on June 27. It has travelled to Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the USA, the West Indies, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Bahrain, Italy, France and England. 

World Cup around the corner 

As many as 10 teams will vie for the most coveted cricketing tournament which will be played in India from Oct 5 to Nov 19. 

The Narendra Modi Stadium of Ahmedabad will host the tournament opener and the final. 

The World Cup will be played in a round-robin format with all teams playing against each other for a total of 45 league matches. 

The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals which will be played in Mumbai on Nov 15 and in Kolkata on Nov 16. The semi-finals and the final will also have reserve days.

Pakistan have not yet announced the squad for the mega event.

October 20 - vs Australia in Bengaluru

October 31 - vs Bangladesh in Kolkata

November 4 - vs New Zealand Bengaluru (Day match)

November 11 - vs England in Kolkata
