Increase in POL prices challenged in Lahore High Court

Head of Judicial Activism Panel has filed the application
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The increase in prices of petroleum products has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.
Advocate Azhar Siddique, the head of the Judicial Activism Panel, has filed an application in the Lahore High Court, in which the caretaker federal government has been made a party.
The petitioner said that the prices of petroleum products had been increased upto Rs 26. There was no mechanism to determine the prices of the products.
The petitioner further said that the increase in prices of petroleum products would lead to a new wave of inflation, requesting the court to nullify the recent increase in prices.
The government had increased price of petroleum products by increasing petrol by Rs26.02 per litre and diesel by Rs17.34 per litre.
According to announcement, the new price of petrol would be Rs331.38 per litre and the new price of high speed diesel would be Rs 329.18 per litre.
