Fans have expressed anger after Strikers did not name him as captain

(Web Desk) – Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has joined the Colombo Strikers squad in Sri Lanka ahead of the start of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023.

The franchise also shared the development on its Twitter handle while sharing a couple of photos of Babar Azam, who joined it after Pakistan beat Sri Lanka to whitewash two-match Test series. “No Caption Needed, Boss Man in the house,” the Strikers captioned the post.

Meanwhile, the social media is flooded with reactions from Mr Azam’s fans after Strikers named Niroshan Dickwella as their captain for the series.

As his fans expressed anger over the development, some people close to the Pakistani legend claimed that Colombo Strikers wanted Babar Azam to captain their team, but Babar passed the opportunity as he wanted to play as a player only.

The right-handed batsman would also leave the franchise during Pakistan's ODI series against Afghanistan, which is expected to being in third week of August, therefore he did not want to disturb the team structure.
