Says practice matches would further strengthen national squad ahead of the mega event

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed hoped that the Team Green would lift trophy of the ODI World Cup 2023 which is set to begin in India in October this year.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who is also part of the Pakistan squad for the mega event, said any Asian team should win this year’s tournament as it was being held in this region and “I hope Pakistan will manage to win the title again”.

Speaking to media, Mr Ahmed said the Pakistan team should play maximum practice matches as they would prove beneficial for the players. “It doesn’t matter if you win or lose in practice matches,” he said.

Responding to question, he welcomed the holding of training camp in Karachi for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. He said similarity in weather conditions of Karachi and Sri Lanka would benefit the national team. The right-arm batsman also called for practice matches before the Test series.
