LONDON (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held detailed discussion on the caretaker setup and other political matters with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in London.
The premier reached the United Kingdom after wrapping up his two-day visit to France where he attended the New Global Financial Pact Summit in Paris. He presented Pakistan’s perspective and proposals for reform of the International Financial Institutions, climate finance, green infrastructure, attainment of the SDGs and solutions related to debt.
The prime minister also held bilateral meetings with other world leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Chinese premier Li Qiang, on the sidelines of the summit.
Shehbaz Sharif held two and a half hours long meeting with his elder brother and they also discussed the return of the PML-N supremo who has been living in London.
Speaking to media in London, the prime minister said his meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMG) managing director remained constructive, adding that he had informed the official that Pakistan had implemented all the conditions laid forth by the global lender for revival of the loan programme, which is set to expire on June 30. He hoped that Pakistan and the IMF would reach an agreement before expiry of the bailout package.
On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif’s legal team has hinted at his return to Pakistan next month as the general elections draw closer with term of current National Assembly ending in August. The polls are expected to be held in September or October this year.
Sources said the PML-N supremo would travel to Dubai along with Shehbaz Sharif and then he is expected to go to Saudi Arabia.
