Khadija Shah sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Foreign Office said on Thursday the US embassy’s request for consular access to Khadija Shah had been forwarded to the Ministry of Interior.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a media briefing that due to Khadija Shah's dual citizenship, the US embassy had requested consular access which had been sent to the Ministry of Interior.
The spokesperson further said the characters involved in the May 9 attacks were being treated according to the constitution and the law. “Pakistan is a country governed by constitution and law. All citizens are enjoying basic rights in Pakistan. Allegations of human rights violations in Pakistan are baseless,” she added.
She said the trilateral talks among Pakistan, China and Iran were under way on counter-terrorism. She said the DG counter-terrorism was leading the Pakistani delegation in the talks in Beijing.
The spokesman said brutalities of the Indian forces in the occupied Kashmir were continuing. “We call upon the international community once again to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN resolutions,” she added.
Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Thursday sent 13 women including Khadija Shah, Sanam Javed and Tayyaba to jail on 14-day judicial remand.
