Says if democracy becomes a victim, PDM will be responsible

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - The Awami Muslim League (AML) head and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Wednesday the PTI achieved nothing from negotiations and the real issue was to fix the elections date.

He said everything else was just an excuse to pass the time by the government and its allies.

In his message on the social networking site Twitter, the former interior minister said yesterday there was chaos and agitation against the judiciary in parliament. Foul and obnoxious language was used against the judiciary in parliament. Picking a row with the judiciary had always been PML-N’s hallmark, he said.

This time, if democracy became a victim, the PDM would be responsible for all that, he said.

He wondered how long the judiciary would keep its cool. The desecration of the judiciary was at the door of the Supreme Court. How could those demanding accountability of the judges, hold elections in a fair and transparent manner, he said.

Mr Ahmed said the PDM leaders were ready to sacrifice the whole nation rather than presenting themselves for accountability. He said the chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) preferred to resign instead of taking the pressure of illegal decision on Lal Haveli.

He said the PDM government had broken 75-year record of of inflation and unemployment. Khaqan Abbasi said more than Rs20 billion were embezzled in free flour. “If there is a refusal from the IMF to Ishaq Dar, how he will prepare a budget?, Mr Ahmed said.

The former interior minister further said they (the government) were trying to corner the judges. Parliament was violating the Constitution and humiliating the judiciary every day. The judiciary would prove for them a hard nut to crack. Those who would clash with the judiciary would face humiliation, he warned.
