ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The coalition government has decided to convene a meeting of heads of component parties after Eidul Fitr to continue national consultation process with all parties within and outside parliament.
According to an official statement issued late on Wednesday night, a high-level consultative meeting of the 13 ruling parties held with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair, at the Prime Minister House, reviewed the political situation in detail and held consultations on future strategies on constitutional and legal issues.
The meeting resolved to keep the doors on negotiations open and reposed confidence in the Constitution and democracy, the statement added.
The coalition partners are in the process of pre-consultation and negotiations regarding the holding of elections, as stated earlier, in the whole of country simultaneously under the caretaker governments as per the constitutional procedure, the statement continued.
“As politicians, we have never closed the door of dialogue to anyone, nor can any democrat do so. At every stage since the presentation of the economic pact, the coalition government has expressed its willingness to engage in meaningful, serious and constitutionally-bounded negotiations,” the participants reiterated.
It may be recalled that the ruling alliance was divided on holding dialogue with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In yesterday's meeting the coalition partners also decided that all requirements for holding election would be fulfilled, so that the results could be acceptable to all the parties and bring political stability in the country which is vital to economic interests.
