Pakistani mountaineer Shehroze Kashif sets new world record

He has became the world's youngest mountaineer to summit 11 peaks above 8,000 meters

(Dunya News) – Pakistani climber Shehroze Kashif on Monday became the world's youngest mountaineer to summit 11 peaks above 8,000 meters (26,247 feet) after he scaled Annapurna, the 10th tallest mountain on earth.

Annapurna is situated in the Annapurna mountain range of Gandaki Province, Nepal. It is the tenth highest mountain in the world at 8,091 metres above sea level and is well known for the difficulty and danger involved in its ascent.

“Today at 6:30 a.m. PST, Shehroze Kashif has successfully summited World's 10th highest peak Mount Annapurna 8091,” an announcement was made on his social media pages.

“In the process, Shehroze has become the youngest ever person in the world to climb 11 8000m peaks,” reads the post.

The 21-year-old, who hails from Lahore, started his climbing at the age of 11, gradually scaling the world’s the two tallest mountains – Mount Everest and K2.

 

In 2013, he scaled the 3,885-meter (12,746-foot) Makra Peak, situated in Mansehra district and he summitted the 8,047-meter Broad Peak, located in Gilgit-Baltistan, that earned him the title "The Broad Boy."

In August last, Kashif conquered the 8,080m Gasherbrum-1, the 11th tallest mountain in the world. The passionate climber aims to set a new world record by summitting all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres.
