PM visiting Uzbekistan to attend SCO-CHS meeting

SAMARKAND (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is visiting Samarkand, Uzbekistan to attend the annual meeting of the Council of Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The Prime Minister will be participating in the SCO-CHS on the invitation of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who would chair the meeting.
After his arrival, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the ancient Khizar mosque of Uzbekistan’s historic city Samarkand.
The prime minister appreciated the architectural masterpiece of the mosque built in the eighth century. Federal Ministers Khawaja Asif and Miftah Ismail accompanied the prime minister.
PM Sharif also paid respects at the mausoleum of Uzbekistan’s first president, Islam Karimov.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also met President of Tajikistan Emamoli Rahmon and discussed various issues of bilateral and regional importance.
The meeting focused on the ways and means to strengthen relationship between Pakistan and Tajikistan in diverse fields including trade, economy, energy and people-to-people contacts.
It merits mention that SCO leaders are meeting to deliberate on important global and regional issues, including climate change, food security energy security, and sustainable supply chains.
They would also approve agreements and documents that would chart the future direction of cooperation among SCO member states.
Since becoming full member of SCO in 2017, Pakistan has been actively contributing towards advancing Organization’s core objectives through its participation in various SCO mechanisms.
