ECP reserves verdict on reference against 25 dissident PTI MPAs

Chief Election Commissioner said that ECP has listened to the arguments of both the parties.
Islamabad (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reserved the decision regarding reference against 25 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs sent by Speaker Punjab Assembly.
In his arguments, Barrister Ali Zaffar said media and social media have publicized the party policy of PTI.
While the dissident members said that they were not told not to vote against Pervaiz Elahi. On this, barrister Ali Zaffar said that PTI leader Asad Umer had written a letter to all the party members to inform as the party’s secretary general. Dissident members used to have a get together at a private hotel while all members were being given show cause notices on April 7. PTI has submitted the original record of sending the courier in ECP.

While Aleem Khan’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja has raised objection against the new documents. ECP member Nisar Durrani questioned that why is it needed to submit the record on this occasion? On this the lawyer Faisal Chaudhry said that earlier photocopies were submitted and now original documents have been submitted.
Ali Zaffar said that all dissident members voted for Hamza Shahbaz as Chief Minister on April 16. Hamza Shahbaz was elected as CM Punjab after these members voted for him. “What happened on April 16, this diminished the prestige of the Assembly,” he said.
While the Chief Election Commissioner said that no member refused to cast his vote.
