No early elections, Nawaz, Shehbaz agree in London meeting

LONDON (Dunya News) – Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday has met with Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Mian Nawaz Sharif in London. According to sources, during the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, it was agreed that there is no possibility of early elections in the country and General elections will be held only after the completion of electoral reforms.

PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif also briefed PM Shehbaz Sharif on the phone conversation with former President Asif Ali Zardari. Get ready for general elections, Nawaz tells PML-N leadership It was also agreed that all parties related to the economic issues would be taken into confidence.

Nawaz Sharif directed to formulate a strategy to minimize the burden on the people while asked the PML-N leaders to make preparations for the general elections.

According to PML-N sources, former Prime Minister emphasized to complete election and constitutional reforms as soon as possible and to expose the corruption of Imran Khan and other PTI members with evidence. Nawaz to hold important press conference on Thursday

On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif will hold an important press conference on Thursday and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and members of his cabinet will also be present at the press conference.

The sources privy to the matter said that the former prime minister will make important announcements regarding the upcoming general elections and will also brief about his strategy for dealing with economic crises and oil prices and reasons for the removal of Imran’s government.  

Maryam Nawaz On the other hand, PML-N vice president and Nawaz Sharif s daughter Maryam Nawaz has shared photos of the meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif in London in which former Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar was also present.

It is pertinent to mention here that the important meeting of PML-N will be held in London today. Accompanied by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif s delegation, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Marryium Aurangzeb, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Khawaja Asif and Khurram Dastgir have also arrived in London.

Khawaja Asif hints at early election before new COAS appointment

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has hinted at early general elections before appointment of new Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Khawaja Asif has said that there will be caretaker government in the country in November or it is also possible that the new government is sworn in by that time. He further said that present COAS has clarified that he does not want extension in his tenure.

All names in the seniority list for new Army Chief will be deliberated on and Lt General Faiz Hameed will also be considered if on the list, he added.

Asif said that the appointment of new COAS will be made on merit and added that the procedure for the army chief’s appointment should be institutionalised now. The Defense Minister also revealed that issue of appointment of new Army Chief was behind ouster of Imran Khan.

Criticizing former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Khawaja said that PTI Chairman wanted to use appointment of COAS for his personal benefit.

Khawaja Asif admitted that Imran Khan is a popular leader but said that the experiment of bringing him into power proved disastrous for the country.
