Bilawal refuses to accept resignation of Yousuf Raza Gilani
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has refused to accept the resignation of Yousuf Raza Gilani from the post of Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.
According to sources, the PPP Chairman appreciated the statement of the former prime minister in the Senate. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Yousuf Gilani s services for democracy are a shining example for democrats.
Bilawal added that PPP is the only party whose representatives are accountable to themselves. Yousuf Raza Gilani has always fought for democracy. Until he endured the hardships of imprisonment for the crime of public service.
He further said that Bilawal Bhutto regretted the biased attitude of Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani towards the SBP Amendment Bill and said that the Chairman Senate had passed the SBP Amendment Bill in collusion with the government.
Yousuf Raza Gillani sends resignation as Senate Opposition Leader to PPP
Earlier on Monday, Yousuf Raza Gillani announced he has sent his resignation as Opposition Leader of Senate to his party over passage of State Bank of Pakistan Amendment Bill 2022.
Addressing the Senate, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader said that under current circumstances he cannot work anymore in this position. For the first time in the history of country Chairman Senate casted vote but the chairman should be impartial and not take sides during the session, he added.
He further said that he was not taken into confidence for State Bank Amendment bill nor he was told that the bill was on agenda.
Earlier, the Upper House of the Parliament on Friday passed the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill 2022.
