JAHANIYAN (Dunya News) - Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday said that the presidential system has no reality, it is a balloon which will be blown out soon.
Addressing the media, Qureshi said that the South Punjab province has been under discussion since the 70 s and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) is serious about making it. Five times PPP and four times PML-N ruled but South Punjab could not become a province.
He added that a two-thirds of the majority is required for the formation of South Punjab province. In consultation with Imran Khan, a letter has been written to Bilawal and Shehbaz Sharif for a two-thirds majority. It is written in the letter that if you wish, we will send the bill for South Punjab province to the assembly together.
FM Qureshi mentioned that the CPEC project is not slowing down and that there is no swing, the priorities have changed because of Corona, the OIC foreign ministers meeting also passed a resolution in the Security Council to lift sanctions on Afghanistan. The OIC has set up a trust for Afghanistan, and the United States has announced humanitarian assistance.
Earlier on Saturday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will complete its term and will also give surprise in next general elections.
Talking to media persons, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that government is fully aware of inflation in the country but PTI has taken steps for stability in the economy. Coronavirus affected global economy but the country still managed well despite the pandemic, he added.
Talking about creation of South Punjab province, Qureshi said that he has penned a letter to Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto on the matter as government wants to fulfill its promise but establishment of new province requires constitutional amendment which requires support from opposition.
He further said that government is even willing to give opposition the credit for the constitutional amendment if it wants.
While criticizing Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the minister said that all political parties of Sindh have rejected the provincial local government act. He added that PTI is in favor of local bodies elections.
