President for imparting market oriented education to meet emerging challenges
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Dr Arif Alvi has called for imparting market oriented education to the engineering students to meet emerging challenges.
Addressing a ceremony of Pakistan Engineering Council s governing body in Islamabad today, he said PEC should work to create a mechanism to develop connection between universities and industry.
He said profession of engineering is associated with building civilizations and that it were the engineers who made Pakistan an atomic power.
Highlighting the changing trends in the world, he said development policies are shifting from Brick-and-Mortar projects to the development of knowledge, intellect and human resources.
He asked to encourage the differently abled and women in the field of engineering.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Science and Technology Syed Shibli Faraz said development of engineering sector is imperative for the economic progress of the country.
The Minister said it is our priority to uplift the standard of PEC. He called for introduction of an internship program similar to house jobs of doctors to equip the engineers with required latest skills and experience.
He said increasing the export of engineering goods is our target.
