Pakistan flag to fly at half-mast to pay respect to Syed Ali Gilani

Veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani passed away in Srinagar on Wednesday.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the Pakistan flag will fly at half-mast today (Thursday) to pay respect to veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani who passed away in Srinagar on Wednesday, Dunya News reported.

The tallest figure in struggle against the Indian occupation of Kashmir, Syed Ali Shah Gilani, passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 92. He had been unwell for months.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his tweet said, "Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Kashmiri freedom fighter Syed Ali Geelani who struggled all his life for his people & their right to self determination."

Imran Khan said that he suffered incarceration and torture by the occupying Indian state but remained resolute.

We in Pakistan salute his courageous struggle and remember his words: "Hum Pakistani hain aur Pakistan Humara hai", Imran Khan stated.

PM Imran said that the Pakistan flag will fly at half mast and we will observe a day of official mourning.
