Tokyo Olympics Javelin Throw final: Arshad Nadeem misses out on medal

TOKYO (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem claimed fifth place thanks to his best throw of 84.6m on his third attempt ending dreams of grabbing a medal ended with a foul in his final throw in the javelin final in the Tokyo Olympics.
Nadeem threw for 82.91m on his opening attempt of the final round and maintained his fourth position - just one shy of podium places.
Nadeem’s first throw landed at a distance of 82.40 - well below his personal best of 86.38m. His second attempt was deemed a foul. His final attempt of the round and competition was a foul as he finished fifth.
Neeraj Chopra won the men’s javelin for India’s first ever Olympic athletics gold.
Chopra, 23, managed a winning best of 87.58 metres to go one better than India’s previous best: two silver medals won in the 200m and now-defunct 200m hurdles at the 1900 Paris Games by British-Indian Norman Pritchard.
The Czech Republic filled out the podium at Tokyo s Olympic Stadium, Jakub Vadlejch taking silver with 86.67m and Vitezslav Vesely claiming bronze with 85.44m.
Arshad Nadeem had made it to the final of men’s javelin throw with a throw of 85.16m, well beyond the qualification mark of 83.50m. His first attempt was 78.50m.
Arshad Nadeem topped the Group B with a throw of 85.16m, Vadlejch Jakub of Czech Republic was second and Weber Julian of Germany grabbed third position to qualify for the final.
In a video message on social networking website, Arshad thanked people for praying for his success and expressed resolve to do his best to secure a medal for the country.
He once again asked nation to pray for him and reiterated that he will not hurt trust of entire nation on him.
