Karachi likely to go under complete lockdown amid virus surge

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Amid growing number of Covid-19 cases mainly in Karachi, the authorities were considering imposing complete lockdown to prevent the spread of pandemic in the metropolis as the positivity ratio surged above 30 percent, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, a meeting of the Provincial Corona Task Force will be held today (Friday) under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah during which important decision are expected.
Sources said that various decisions are being considered to curb the spread of Corona. It is likely that a complete lockdown will be imposed in the city from today while a proposal to close transport services, general manufacturing industrial units and markets is also under consideration.
Sources further said that help would be sought from federal law enforcement agencies for the implementation of coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The Sindh government has completed consultations with political parties and business organizations before taking major decisions. Representatives of all parliamentary parties, traders and industrialists have also been invited to attend today s meeting.
