Arrest warrant of Kangana Ranaut likely to be issued

The magistrate has directed the actress to appear before the court.

MUMBAI (Dunya News) – The court has warned Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut of issuing arrest warrant if she won’t attend the hearing of defamation suit filed by Indian song writer Javed Akhtar. The magistrate accepted the exemption from the hearing plea of the actress and provided her last chance to appear before the court. Javed Akhtar had filed a complaint against Kangana Ranaut following an interview given by her to the news channel. According to reports, Ranaut’s statements hurt Akhtar’s reputation. The veteran lyricist claimed that his name has been unnecessarily dragged in connection to the unfortunate death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He also claimed that the video interview gained millions of views on the channels’ website and even on their YouTube channel. Reportedly, the interview was also published by other mainstream news platforms. Reports further stated that Akhtar had sought cognizance for the offence of defamation committed by Ranaut and punishable under the Indian Penal Code.
