FM Qureshi arrives in China on two-day official visit

The FM said bilateral strategic agenda would be discussed in his meeting with Chinese counterpart
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday reached China on two-day official visit. The foreign minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation.
Upon arrival at Chengdu airport, Qureshi, who was visiting China on the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, was received by senior officials of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi will lead the delegation for Pak-China bilateral delegation-level talks in Chengdu, the capital of China s Sichuan Province.
Both sides will inter alia discuss further deepening of bilateral relations, focus on cooperation in the high-quality development under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), defence and security cooperation, Covid-19 vaccines, counter-terrorism and regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The FM will also hold meetings with important personalities including his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
It is pertinent to mention here that FM Qureshi was invited to visit China by his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
The foreign minister s visit will play an important role in further strengthening the everlasting friendship and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China.
Earlier in a video message before leaving for China on a two-day visit, Qureshi expressed confidence that his visit to China would further strengthen bilateral fraternal relations between the two countries.
The FM said bilateral strategic agenda would be discussed in his meeting with the Chinese counterpart, adding that the two sides would exchange views on the situation in Afghanistan and the region.
“A detailed meeting on the progress made so far on the projects related to China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its future strategy would be held,” Qureshi mentioned.
He said the Pak-China friendship, which had entered the seventh decade, was emerging as a strong strategic partnership.
