Pakistan reports 2,579 coronavirus cases, 40 deaths in 24 hours

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan has reported 40 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 996,451. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 22,888 on Wednesday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 2,579 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Province-wise Details

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 359,824 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 351,345 in Punjab, 141,138 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 85,028 in Islamabad, 29,242 in Balochistan, 22,339 in Azad Kashmir and 7,535 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Tests and Recoveries

Pakistan has so far conducted 15,525,468 coronavirus tests and 41,186 in the last 24 hours. 922,034 patients have recovered in the country whereas 2,590 patients are in critical condition.
