Pakistan take 1-0 lead against England in the three-match T20I series.

NOTTINGHAM (Dunya News) – Pakistan beat England by 31 runs in the first T20 International of the three-match series at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Friday.

Liam Livingstone 42-ball century failed to take England home who were chasing a mammoth target of 233 for victory.

Earlier, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have provided a great start to the visitors with 150-run partnership for the opening wicket in the first T20I.

England had won the toss and choose to field first against Pakistan.

England’s regular captain Eoin Morgan returned to the England squad along with Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali and Jos Buttler.

England had named their 16-men squad for the T20I series against Pakistan. The return of their experienced players will further boost their confidence and they will be led by their usual white-ball captain Eoin Morgan. Jake Ball, Lewis Gregory, Saqib Mahmood, Dawid Malan, and Matt Parkinson are among the ones who retained their spot from the ODI series.

Pakistan has included a few young names to their list for the T20I series and they will be hoping for better results here. They showed quite a fightback in the last game but their bowlers lacked consistency and that is an area where Babar Azam would want his bowlers to deliver.

England is the number one ranked T20I side in the world while Pakistan is standing fourth on the list. Both the teams have met 18 times in this format so far, where England won 12 games while Pakistan bagged 5 wins and one of the matches ended without any result.

Squad

Pakistan: Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Babar Azam (capt), Sohaib Maqsood, Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, Azam Khan, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain.
