PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that those who fled to London to save corruption money will not survive for long, they will be brought back soon.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has inaugurated low-cost family flats for labourers at Regi Lalma in Peshawar.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony in Peshawar today, he said his government is committed to facilitate lower segments of society as per vision of the State of Madinah. He said no attention was paid to the poor class by successive regimes in past.
He said PTI is the first government, which is focussing on the welfare of the opporessed and neglected people thorugh privison of health cards and housing facilities.
PM Imran Khan said that Pakistan has a jail for the poor and an NRO for the powerful, which is why our country was destroyed.
Today the whole mafia is trying to get NRO together but these people will never succeed in their endeavor, I will bring them under the law, said PM.
Imran Khan said that Allama Iqbal was our ideological leader. Pakistan was to become an Islamic welfare state. Pakistan was the name of a big dream but unfortunately no one understood this dream, what was the purpose of our country and what path have we taken, he added.
In his address, Imran Khan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not give a second turn to any other party, but PTI got a two-third majority due to its performance. According to the UN report, poverty in the province is low while human development is highest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Talking about the problem of water in Pakistan, he said that the population of our country is growing very fast, there may be a shortage of water in the future.
The solution was to build dams fifty years ago, but this was not done. The Prime Minister hoped that by 2028, ten dams would be built in Pakistan, including Mohmand and Bhasha to take care of electricity needs and food security of the country.
Talking about the construction work on Mohmand Dam, the Prime Minister said this reservoir will be completed by 2025 and it will irrigate 17,000 acres of land, provide 300 million gallon water to the residents of Peshawar and generate cheap electricity.
It is pertinent to mention that 2,056 family flats will be distributed among registered workers of the province through balloting. Three percent quota has been reserved for widows and two percent for differently abled people.
The project, also include a school comprising 30 class rooms.
PM visits site of Mohmand Dam to oversee construction work
Earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan had visited the site of Mohmand Dam on Wednesday to review the ongoing construction work.
Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Lt Gen (retd) Muzammil Hussain had briefed the prime minister on the progress of the project.
The groundbreaking of Mohmand Dam was performed by Prime Minister Imran Khan on May 2, 2019.
The Mohmand Dam being constructed on Swat River will help in areas including flood protection, agriculture and crop needs, water security and environment-friendly electricity supply.
The dam costing Rs 309.6 billion will be constructed 218 meters high with a storage capacity of 1.293 million acre feet water and will generate 800-megawatt electricity.
In the areas of electricity, irrigation and flood protection, Mohmand Dam will save Rs 51 billion annually.
On directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the work on the project is in full swing which even was not halted during the pandemic.
The WAPDA is committed to complete the project by year 2025.
