President authorizes Sessions Courts to hear rape cases
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Dr. Arif Alvi has authorized Sessions Courts to hear rape cases under Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Ordinance.
The President gave this approval today till the establishment of special courts across the country to hear rape cases.
Dr Arif Alvi also approved appointment of two additional judges in Balochistan high court and thirteen others in Lahore High Court.
The President too approved ninety days reduction in sentence of prisoners on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr. This reduction will not be applicable on prisoners involved in heinous crimes.
