Govt to collect Rs 884b after Rs 5.6 power tariff hike on IMF orders: Sherry Rehman
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader and Senator Sherry Rehman has said that the government will collect Rs 884 billion at the orders of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and electricity prices will increase by 36 percent excluding taxes.
In a statement released on Twitter, PPP leader Sherry Rehman said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is running Pakistan’s government.
She said that 3 ordinances are being issued today on the directive of International Monetary Fund (IMF) adding that preparations are underway to bring in a mini-budget at the orders of the IMF.
Sherry Rehman said that the new ordinance will give right to NEPRA to bypass even cabinet and keep hiking electricity prices on IMF’s orders.
Rs 884b will be collected from consumers at a whopping Rs 5.6 tariff hike in a series of new charges taking electricity bills up by 36 % minus taxes, she said
