First Lady pays surprise visit to Ehsaas panagah near Data Darbar

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The first lady paid on Monday a surprise visit to an Ehsaas panagah near Data Darbar where she inquired about the facilities given to people staying at the shelter.

According to details, the first lady arrived unannounced at the homeless shelter, with Punjab and district government officials completely unaware of her visit.

The purpose of the first lady’s visit was to review the facilities provided at the shelter and to find out the true situation directly from the occupants.

During the visit, the first lady inquired about the accommodation and food facilities given at the shelter and expressed satisfaction with the facilities provided.

Like the Chief Minister, provincial ministers and representatives of the federal government who have paid surprise visits to the panagahs, the first lady also reviewed all matters related to the shelter set up under the Prime Minister’s vision.

The first lady inquired about the problems being faced by the occupants and also shared a meal with them and praised the quality of the food.

The First Lady directed to further improve the accommodation and food arrangements in the shelter and announced that funds would be provided for the repairs on priority basis.

She said the government provided shelter to those without a roof over their head, which was their right. It is the government’s responsibility to take care of the people living in the shelters, she added.

People staying at the shelter told the first lady that they have been given a home-like atmosphere and that building shelters was an exemplary step by the government which enabled them to spend the night in peace instead of sleeping on sidewalks.
