Senate elections: PDM rejects govt's offer to elect candidates in KP unopposed
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has rejected the government s offer to elect candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Senate elections unopposed.
According to sources, the government has offered two out of the seven general seats to the PDM from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but the PDM has refrained from responding to the government s offer.
Senator Taj Afridi called on PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and offered him two senate seats on behalf of the government.
League leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf were also present during the meeting.
PDM Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had asked Taj Afridi to wait for his response but has not yet responded to the government’s offer.
Sources said that the PDM leadership would contest elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as per its strategy.
