NEPRA to conduct hearing today as CPPA seeks Rs0.92 per unit tariff hike

CPPA has sought Rs0.92 per unit increase in power tariff under monthly fuel adjustment mechanism.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hold public hearing on a petition filed by Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) on Thursday.
According to the petition, the CPPA has sought Rs0.92 per unit increase in power tariff under the monthly fuel adjustment mechanism for the month of January.
The CPPA said in its petition that in January, 12.06% electricity was generated from furnace oil at Rs 12.34 per unit, 16.51% from gas, 11.34% from imported LNG, 31.38% from coal and 10.55% from nuclear sources.
Meanwhile, the reference fuel cost for January was fixed at Rs 5.76 per unit. NEPRA will make a decision on whether to increase the tariff after the hearing.
