Centre mulls transfer of IG Sindh over arrest of Haleem Adil

Haleem Adil is in jail on judicial remand in a case pertaining to interference in official affairs
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal government is considering to transfer Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar over arrest of provincial Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh.
As per details, federal ministers and lawmakers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have demanded removal of Mushtaq Mahar and replacing him with a BSP-21 officer.
On the other hand, Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has taken notice of alleged ill-treatment of Opposition Leader of Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh and summoned a report from Chief Secretary of Sindh.
Sheikh Rashid, while taking notice of media reports, said that Haleem Adil is a respectable member of Sindh Assembly and basic human rights of the opposition leader should not be violated.
The minister also directed to provide all necessary medical facilities to Haleem Adil Sheikh.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry demanded immediate release of Opposition Leader of Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh.
Fawad Chaudhry, in a tweet, said that arrest of Haleem Adil Sheikh in a political case and attack on him by goons in highly condemnable.
It is to be noted here that Haleem Adil Sheikh was shifted to hospital due to heart pain.
According to sources, Haleem Adil Sheikh had complained of heart pain and requested the jail superintendent to take him to the hospital due to ill health.
It is to be mentioned here that an anti-terrorism court (ATC) has on Friday sent Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh to jail on judicial remand in a case pertaining to interference in official affairs.
