NEW DELHI (Web Desk) - It is a known fact that cow is considered sacred by Hindus. A farmer couple has adopted a calf as their ‘son’.
The couple, Vijaypal and Rajeshwari Devi, adopted the calf after they failed to have a child after 15 years of marriage at a village in Uttar Pradesh.
They held also held a ceremony, a head-shaving ritual, for the calf they have named Laltu Baba. A priest gave blessings to the calf and its ‘parents’.
Over 500 guests were invited to the ceremony. People from across the village had arrived with gifts.
The couple also held a feast for all the guests.
"I always treated Laltu as my son. The calf has been attached to us since its birth. Laltu’s love for us is true and unconditional," Vijaypal said.
A lot of people attended the ceremony and were all excited and happy for the couple and calf.
Vijaypal had a deep affection for Laltu’s mother who was brought up by his late father. When the cow passed away, the calf was left alone and the couple decided to adopt it as a ‘child’.
